3 Reasons why I am excited to be a Papa

I am going to be a young Papa and I think that is good. I have enjoyed parenthood and now it is time to watch my kids become parents. Rachel will be the first to embark on this new adventure and I know she will do great. I married my wife when Rachel was 16 yrs old and I am sure it was no fun for her to have to accept a new man in her life. But, I believe that our relationship is a very good one and I have enjoyed watching her grow into a lady. Rachel is married and will be having her first child in less than two weeks and I will be a new Papa.

Someone to spoil

Why would I want to spoil them...cause its fun. At least that is what I have heard. As a parent you are given the task to try to prepare your children for the world and often times the children disagrees with how the parent handles this preparation, mainly with the use of discipline. Well, with grandchildren you don't have to discipline them, of course you can't let them go crazy but now I don't have to worry about the discipline part...I'll just let Rachel and Cole deal with that.

Special bond

You ever notice when you are at the zoo, a sporting event, or a playground and the grandparents show up the grandkids go running to them. The child's eyes light up as the grandparents gives them a big hug. I love that special bond that grandparents have with grandkids.

It means we have done well

This may be a weird one so let me explain. I mentioned earlier that it is the parent's job to raise their kids and I will have to be honest here. My wife is really the one to credit for how well our kids have turned out. She has worked very hard to provide for our kids. I have always admired how she put them above herself time after time. So, to watch Rachel get married and start a family shows me that we have done our duty as parents. It may not have been a perfect journey but it is one that I glad I am on.
