stay tuned for more videos

It has been two weeks since I have been to Texas to see my grandson Eli. The most recent photos have been uploads from Rachel, I along with you, have been looking at these photos and can't believe how much he has grown.

I will be traveling to Texas Saturday night to bring my wife home. I am very thankful that she had the opportunity to stay with Rachel to help with the new baby but I have missed my wife and can't wait to have her home with me.

What does this mean for you?

This means more videos and more photos from me. So stay tuned to this blog as I will have more videos to share with you.

Diaper Change

When Rachel and Cole arrived home with baby Eli it was only a few minutes later and he needed a diaper change.

Why my grandbaby is prettier than yours.

Baby Eli is about a day old now and he is just a bundle of joy. When he was only a few hours old and the nurses were bathing him I watched and could not get over how beautiful he was and began to wonder what made him special. I mean all babies are precious but Eli was special. I think it is because when I look at him I see all the fun times we are going to have together. I will get to watch him grow up, from every bump and bruise to the first crawl and the first step.

With every hour that passes you can see changes in him, especially that cone shaped head of his...poor fella.

Precious little gift

Baby Eli, you truly are a gift from God. I could hold you all day or
at least until you need your diaper changed.

Cute little squirt

He is a cutey!

He's here!

Eli Cash Metcalf made his appearance at 12:09. Weighing in at 7lbs. 11
oz. And 19.5 inches.

Poor fella had a cone head and a good set of lungs.

I should be able to see him soon and get some photos.

And that's my cue

Cole and I decided to grab some lunch at the hospital's cafeteria. The
food was surprisingly good. Halfway through my chicken wrap Sue calls
Cole's cell phone and Cole's eye get bigger than life. He looks at me
and says, "Oh my goodness, she's at a 10! He quickly hangs up the phone and we
both toss our remaining food (I took one more bite-it was that good)
and we bolted back to the room.

We both enter the room and the nurse is already preparing the room for
the arrival of baby Eli.

The nurse asks everyone, "so who is staying in the room?"

We all answer together, "Dad and Grandma."

The nurse turns to me and states with a smile, "Well, it's about to
get graphic in here."

That was my cue that it was showtime cause baby
Eli is done being couped up in that little space.

Mommy and Daddy are ready

Cole and Rachel are anxiously waiting for the arrival of baby Eli. We
were thinking he would be here by noon but from the looks of the
monitor he is taking a nap.

Guess the weight

Everything is still looking good. We may not see baby Eli until this afternoon. His heart rate is steady which the nurse tells us that he is sleeping-He must be resting before his big debut.

The nurse is guessing that he will weigh around 7 lbs. So to make it fun check out the poll and put in your guess at the weight.

He wants to come out!

We are all just relaxing and waiting for Eli to make his appearance.

This is the fetal monitor. The top graph is baby Eli and the bottom
one is Rachel.

The spikes on the bottom graph are contractions.

A baby by noon

We are here at the hospital and Rachel is doing fine. Contractions are
coming about every 3 minutes.

The Dr says we should be meeting little Eli by noon.

We are ready for you!

The room is ready for the arrival of Eli.

We are in Texas

Sue and I made it to Texas. Rachel's water broke around 2 this morning so we quickly packed some clothes and took off.

Rachel and Cole are at the hospital, she has already been given the epidural and pitocin so it will not be long now.

We are dropping our things off at their house and then headed to the hospital.

Getting close

Just got word from Rachel that the Dr doesn't think she will make it
to Monday before having the baby.

Time to start packing our clothes and prepare for our trip to Texas to
meet our grandson.
